Oscillatory activity and LFP power modulation in the hippocampal CA1 and prelimbic cortex during morphine-induced place preference

Morphine use disorder (MUD) is a complex neurobiological condition characterized by the reinforcement of addictive behaviors and the development of both psychological and physical dependence. The euphoric effects induced by morphine are mediated by key brain regions, including the CA1 region of the hippocampus and the...

Cannabidiol modulates the brain rhythms within the hippocampal-prelimbic pathway in reinstatement of extinguished methamphetamine-induced conditioned place preference.

This study explores the neural mechanisms underlying the communication between the hippocampus and the prelimbic cortex during the reinstatement phase of reward-seeking behavior in a conditioned place preference (CPP) paradigm. Rats were exposed to methamphetamine (METH) [0.5 and 0.25 mg/kg] and the impact of these dos...

Modulatory role of the mPFC orexin-2 receptors in the acquisition and expression in two paradigms of the natural- and drug-induced conditioned place preference in the rats.

A differential involvement of mPFC Orx2Rs in the acquisition and expression phases of CPP is proposed, suggesting distinguishable behavioral effects between food and morphine reward models, however, further mechanistic studies are required to clarify the underlying neural substrates.
