Routine sleep screening should be integrated into standard diabetes care, with phenotype-guided treatment of obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia, and restless legs syndrome, and large-scale, long-term randomized trials are needed to determine whether sustained sleep interventions reduce diabetic complications.
