This article benchmark the real-time dynamics of Z 2 and U ð 1 Þ gauge-invariant plaquette models using noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) hardware, specifically the superconducting-qubit-based quantum IBM Q computers.

Spectral Fingerprints of Gauge Theories on a Quantum Computer

It is shown how this algorithm is able to take advantage of emerging dynamical circuit capabilities in near-term hardware to roughly halve the number required qubits, as well as how quantum readout error mitigation is trivial for this method.
