The Progression of Prion Diseases Is Not Altered in the Absence of TMEM106B

Transmembrane protein 106B (TMEM106B) is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein localized in late endosomes and lysosomes. This protein has been attributed to relevant roles in disease risk and progression of multiple neurodegenerative disorders. In experimental models, TMEM106B has been linked with the prion-like spread...

In vitro amplification of prions from deer and other animal species through the protein misfolding cyclic amplification (PMCA) technique

An updated protocol to replicate CWD prions by means of the PMCA technology in animal-derived samples and environmental fomites is described, and newly optimized PMCA protocols to identify CWD-prions in non-cervid, sympatric hosts are described.
