This study identifies the ER-anchored transcription factor NAC089 as an ER-phagy receptor acting downstream of the ADP-ribosylation factor (ARF)-like (ARL) GTPase ARLA1A under carbon starvation and demonstrates that active ARLA1A inhibits ER phagy by negatively regulating NAC089.
The findings uncover the OsSK12/13-OsERF60-OsHsfA2c regulatory module as a key component of the heat stress response in rice and provide mechanistic insights into thermotolerance in plants.

SUMMARY The ubiquitin‐conjugating enzymes (E2) play critical roles in plant stress responses and development, but their functions in ABA‐mediated seed germination in rice remain largely unknown. We identified two homologous E2 enzymes, OsUBC11 and OsUBC12, which are highly expressed in rice seeds and induced by multipl...

It is shown that the Arabidopsis NatA N-terminal-acetyltransferase complex acts as a leaf-intrinsic brake on these root-to-leaf systemic responses to ISR priming, enabling plants to sustain lifelong ISR priming without growth penalty.
