A Critical Role for NKG2D Signaling in beta cell-specific CTL Generation and NOD Diabetes 2257932

The results of these studies definitively demonstrate that NKG2D in CD8+ T cells plays a critical role in autoimmune diabetes, and show this role is to enhance CTL generation rather than the CTL effector response in islets as previously proposed.

Engineered regulatory T cells (eTregs) for the treatment of type 1 diabetes 2310215

Preliminary experiments revealed that both the nTregs and eTregs can suppress the cytotoxic function and cytokine secretion of the islet-specific CTLs, indicating that suppression is mediated by a cell contact-dependent mechanism.
