Resection of highly functionally connected glioma regions predicts long-term cognitive preservation

Background. Glioma surgery requires balancing maximal tumor resection against preservation of neurological and cognitive function. Intraoperative direct electrical stimulation guides this balance but is invasive and not always feasible. Preoperative magnetoencephalography (MEG) can identify tumor regions with high func...

Experimental Framework to Investigate Glioma in Organotypic Human Cortex

Background Gliomas are primary brain tumors that integrate into the surrounding brain via neuron-glioma synapses and disrupt normal neuronal functioning. Recent work links tumor-brain connectivity to clinical measures such as patients’ functional status. However, few experimental systems allow the visualization of tumo...

Diffuse glioma perfusion quantification with ASL and DSC: a head-to-head comparison with 15O-H2O PET

While neither ASL nor DSC is fully comparable to 15O-H2O PET in all tumors, ASL presents a viable non-invasive alternative to DSC for glioma imaging and the findings encourage future studies to investigate the extent to which the combination of ASL and DSC can measure complementary tumor hemodynamics.
