Aminopeptidase N is a receptor for hedgehog merbecoviruses.

Three coronavirus receptors from European hedgehogs are tested in cell-based assays and aminopeptidase N (APN) is identified as a receptor for hedgehog merbecoviruses, broadening understanding of receptor use across merbecoviruses and betacoronaviruses and inform risk assessments for viral emergence.
