Artificial Intelligence in Structural Engineering: A Survey on RAG- Based RCC Slab Design as per IS 456:2000

: In recent years, the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into civil engineering has become increasingly significant as the profession moves towards automation, precision, and data-driven decision-making. Conventional design and analysis methods, though reliable, are often time-consuming and depend heavily on manual interpretation of standards and calculations. AI-driven tools are now being explored to assist engineers in performing complex tasks such as structural design validation, quantity estimation, and optimization of material use. These intelligent systems have shown potential to minimize human error, enhance design accuracy, and accelerate the decision-making process in construction projects. Among the various components of reinforced concrete structures, slabs form a fundamental load-bearing element that governs both structural performance and overall building economy. Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) slabs, whether one-way, two-way, or flat, are designed to resist bending and shear.
