A Polyphenol-rich plant extract reduces oxidative stress in the gastrocnemius muscle of mice with high-fat high-sucrose diet-induced obesity

Age-related diseases linked to obesity are often associated with significant oxidative stress. In this context, the antioxidant properties of a polyphenol-rich plant extract (PRPE) were evaluated using complementary biochemical assays and in vivo in the skeletal gastrocnemius muscle of mice treated with PRPE and subj...

Paeoniflorin restores redox homeostasis in oxidatively challenged C2C12 myoblasts via activation of the Nrf2/HO-1 pathway

Results support a potential role for paeoniflorin in maintaining muscle cell homeostasis under oxidative stress and indicate that paeoniflorin enhances resistance to oxidative stress in myoblasts through Nrf2/HO-1 pathway activation, thereby preserving genomic stability and mitochondrial function.

Detoxifying Effects of a Phenolic-Rich Thunbergia laurifolia Water Extract Against Chlorpyrifos-Induced Oxidative Stress: Evidence from an Integrated In Vitro and In Vivo Study

Thunbergia laurifolia has long been used in traditional medicine for detoxification; however, the biological basis of its detoxifying effects remains poorly understood. This study investigated the detoxifying effects of a phenolic-rich aqueous extract of T. laurifolia using integrated in vitro and in vivo approaches. C...

Plant‐Derived Polyphenol Salvianolic Acid B Attenuates Cardiomyocyte Pyroptosis by Modulating the MMP12–NLRP3 Signaling Axis

ABSTRACT Plant‐derived polyphenols are widely investigated as bioactive compounds with potential relevance to cardiometabolic health. Salvianolic acid B (Sal B), a major phenolic compound from Salvia miltiorrhiza , has been reported to exhibit antioxidant and anti‐inflammatory activities; however, its role in cardiomyo...

SALVIANOLIC ACID B ATTENUATES GLUCOLIPOTOXICITY-INDUCED OXIDATIVE STRESS AND MITOCHONDRIAL DYSFUNCTION IN AML12 HEPATOCYTES VIA MODULATING CRBN/AMPK SIGNALING

It is suggested that SalB protects hepatocytes from glucolipotoxic injury by limiting oxidative damage, preserving mitochondrial function, and restoring CRBN-associated AMPK signaling.
