Abstract

In the present study, NaBi(MoO 4) 2 single crystals grown by the Czochralski method were systematically investigated through structural characterization and depth-sensing nanoindentation. X-ray diffraction confirmed phase purity and tetragonal symmetry, while Williamson–Hall analysis provided complementary insight into crystallite-scale strain and defect-related broadening. Load-dependent nanoindentation measurements were evaluated using Oliver–Pharr analysis together with proportional specimen resistance and Meyer-based approaches to distinguish apparent indentation effects from intrinsic mechanical behavior. The results reveal a clear indentation size effect, a progressive decrease in apparent hardness/modulus-related indicators with increasing load, and a concurrent shift in energy partition from elastic to plastic contribution, consistent with increasing irreversible deformation at higher contact loads. By combining crystallographic, mechanical, and energetic analyses within a single framework, this work delivers a reliable property map for NaBi(MoO 4) 2 and provides practical guidance for its use in load-sensitive photonic, optoelectronic, and functional oxide applications where mechanical reliability is critical.

Micromechanical Properties and Deformation Behavior of the Co70Fe3Mn3.5Mo1.5Si11B11 Amorphous Alloy

This work reports an experimental study of the micromechanical properties of the Co70Fe3Mn3.5Mo1.5Si11B11 (at. %) amorphous alloy. All experiments were performed at room temperature on the unannealed sample in order to avoid the influence of thermally induced structural relaxation. X-ray diffraction confirmed the amorp...

Structural Stability and Electromechanical Response of Lead-Free (Bi1/2Na1/2)TiO3‒SrTiO3 Ceramics Under A-Site Strontium Non-Stoichiometry

Lead-free (Bi1/2Na1/2)TiO3 (BNT)-based incipient piezoelectrics are highly promising for high strain actuators, but the high electric fields (4 ~ 6 kV/mm) required for activation limit practical device integration. In the current literature, large strains are frequently attributed to local structural variations like mi...

The Influence of Poling Conditions on the Mechanical Properties of Ferroelectric Single Crystal PMN‐PT

Relaxor ferroelectric Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3‐(1‐x)PbTiO3 (PMN‐PT) exhibits excellent electromechanical coupling properties. During service, PMN‐PT is subjected to electromechanical loading, which may induce functional device failures, such as phase transitions, domain switching, and cracking. However, the associated damage m...

Kinetic modeling and characterization of silicon-free pack boriding on Inconel 738 superalloy using the Taylor expansion model

Abstract Inconel 738 superalloy was treated using a silicon-free pack boriding process with a powder mixture of boron carbide (B4C) and sodium tetrafluoroborate (NaBF4) at 850 °C, 900 °C, and 950 °C for 2 h–8 h. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) analyses confirmed the for...
