THE GEN-X MARINE BIOMIMETIC MANIFESTO Engineering Design Specification for the Ultimate Foiling Vessel "Open Source Concept Study - Speculative Multi-Disciplinary Engineering Design."

Sep 2026 · Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research)

Abstract

A comprehensive conceptual engineering design specification for a next-generation foiling vessel architecture. The Gen-X system transitions marine transport from rigid mechanical structures to an integrated biomimetic platform. By unifying an indestructible, optically linked carbon nanotube (CNT) triple-core computing processor, multi-zoned fluid dynamic skin matrices (dolphin/dragonfly), self-contained triboelectric/thermoelectric energy harvesting loops, and a load-bearing dual-ion (lithium-sodium) structural battery skin insulated by silica aerogel, this paper models a closed-loop vehicle infrastructure capable of extreme speed efficiency, structural invulnerability to high-voltage environmental hazards (lightning/EMP), and low-stress cognitive crew integration via augmented reality (AR) and laryngeal audio tracking. This open-source conceptual study explores the convergence of cutting-edge materials science, nanotechnology, and advanced fluid dynamics within high-performance maritime engineering. Designed as an upgrade architecture for the America's Cup AC75 foiling platform, the Gen-X blueprint completely replaces traditional mechanical systems with reactive, solid-state materials. The vessel operates as an interconnected biological organism split into three distinct physical loops: a sensory-predictive loop driven by a 360-degree Thermal-LiDAR and localized carbon nanotube (CNT) processors; a shape-shifting aerodynamic rig actuated via dielectric elastomer artificial muscles; and a structural, self-charging energy vault utilizing dual-ion carbon nanofibre composites and triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs). Special attention is given to the system's thermal and electromagnetic protection, combining graphene highways and silica aerogels to absorb and recycle atmospheric lightning discharges seamlessly.

The impact of agile practices on communication in software development

The study shows that agile practices improve both informal and formal communication, but indicates that, in larger development situations involving multiple external stakeholders, a mismatch of adequate communication mechanisms can sometimes even hinder the communication.

Solving a 31-year-old grand challenge in mathematics – the KLS conjecture

For decades, a fundamental question about the difficulty of computing in high-dimensional spaces has resisted proof. New research resolves this question, removing a major theoretical obstacle to understanding the efficiency of randomized algorithms used across science and computing. The Kannan–Lovász–Simonovits (KLS) conjecture was proposed in 1995. It asks whether, for a broad class of high-dimensional […] The post Solving a 31-year-old grand challenge in mathematics – the KLS conjecture appear…
