Abstract
The Earth's surface and atmosphere have been substantially modified by the growth of anthropogenic activities
and urbanization. Changes in the composition and operation of the urban ecological system will affect the health of city
dwellers by increasing the risk of heat exposure, increasing the risk of violence, illness, and mortality, and reducing labor
productivity. Davao City is currently undergoing rapid urbanization, and no comprehensive study has examined the effects
of the changes on vegetation indices, urban expansion, traffic density, and land surface temperature, which are likely to
affect the area. This study analyzes the spatio-temporal change in vegetation indices, built-up expansion, traffic density,
and land surface temperature from 2018 to 2022 using Landsat 8 imagery and GIS tools, particularly QGIS. The results
show a moderate negative relationship between NDBI and NDVI (r = −0.4313), a strong positive relationship between
NDBI and LST (r = 0.6216), and a weak negative relationship between NDVI and LST (r =−0.2495). Results highlight the
interconnected influence of urbanization, vegetation dynamics, and thermal conditions within the study area, underscoring
the need to integrate green infrastructure, particularly along major road networks, to mitigate rising land surface
temperatures.
Urbanization has been increasing at a rapid rate, which has led to transformation in the land use/land cover (LULC) and thus has a significant impact on groundwater resources and land surface temperature (LST) in rapidly developing cities. The present study aims to identify the spatio-temporal dynamics of LULC, LST, an...
Urban expansion is a dynamic process of increasing the geographical area of cities, districts and constitutes a significant focus in modern studies, as urban lifestyles have become increasingly prevalent worldwide. There is a flaw in the temporal and spatial distribution of urban expansion trends that requires a compre...

The pressure of rapid urbanisation has led to the rapid transformation of wetlands and vegetation, causing major problems for ecological sustainability in fast-growing cities. This study assesses the spatiotemporal dynamics of wetland, vegetation, and built-up surfaces in Ara City, Bihar, India, from 1995 to 2025 using...
Natural phenomenon as well as human activities are the driving forces by which LULC is changed and it is directly affected on environment. Present study deals with Spatio-temporal variation of LULC to understand the impact on Land surface temperature and vegetation health status of the study region. The study was carri...

Urbanization alters the composition and spatial distribution of built-up and vegetated surfaces, influencing urban thermal conditions. However, comparative assessments across different urbanization scales that link these surface characteristics with energy partitioning remain limited. This study compares Jakarta and Se...
