The Impact and Optimization of ChatGPT on the Quality Evaluation of Chinese Translations in College English Translation Teaching
Abstract
The widespread adoption of generative AI, particularly ChatGPT, is transforming college English translation teaching. As a core component, translation quality assessment has seen improvements such as increased efficiency, real-time feedback, and visual representation. However, practical issues have also emerged, including weakened student subjectivity, lack of humanistic care, and over-reliance on technology. This paper systematically reviews existing applications of ChatGPT in translation quality assessment and examines how it is reshaping assessment processes, redefining the roles of evaluators, and transforming traditional models. Based on this analysis, a four-dimensional optimization path is proposed: promoting human-machine collaboration, implementing multi-round interactive assessment, maintaining a human-oriented approach, and establishing ethical standards for AI use. The proposed framework emphasizes a balance between technological effectiveness and pedagogical and humanistic values. Ultimately, this paper aims to provide theoretical foundations and practical solutions for AI-enabled assessment in college English translation teaching, contributing to the sustainable and effective integration of generative AI into educational practice.
