Evaluative phrases with components-lexemes of the word "theater" (based on publications in the journal "Teatral")

Abstract

The aim of this work is to identify the characteristics of the formation and functioning of phrases with lexical units that are elements of the derivational word "theater," which have evaluative semantics, in contemporary press about theater. The article examines both the features of lexical compatibility and determines which specific lexemes from the derivational word participate in the construction of evaluative phrases, as well as defines the vector of evaluation expressed by the phrases. The practical significance of the work lies in the fact that the conclusions drawn and the collected material are valuable for teaching subjects such as "Lexicology of the Russian Language," "Pragmatic Linguistics of the Russian Language," as well as for teaching individual problems in the field of media linguistic analysis of text, since the material of the research consists of media texts about theater, and the units of study are evaluative phrases that impact the perception of the described phenomena by readers. The research methods include the following: contextual and linguo-pragmatic analysis methods to determine the characteristics of the expressed evaluation, linguistic analysis methods to identify phrases with components that are elements of the derivational word "theater," and semantic analysis methods to identify the vector of evaluation and the characteristics of the meaning expressed by the phrases examined in the work. The scientific novelty of the article consists in the fact that for the first time evaluations in the press about theater are considered taking into account the factor of lexical compatibility, as the analysis aims to identify those language units that, in combination with the components of the derivational word "theater," allow one to express a positive or negative evaluation, considering the context and content of the publication. The study allows for an understanding of the principles of expressing evaluation in relation to theatrical phenomena, taking into account the factor of lexical compatibility of lexemes in the Russian language. As a result of the work, syntactic models of phrases with components from the derivational word "theater" were identified, the vector of the expressed evaluation was determined, and structural and semantic characteristics of the phrases that express evaluation were defined. The relevance of the study lies in the necessity for a detailed examination of the characteristics of lexical compatibility of phrases, considering their contextual and functional features and themes, which is manifested, for example, in the insufficient study of the principles of constructing and using nouns with evaluative semantics, the components of which are units from the derivational word "theater."
