Role of Ethics and Values in Shaping Human Life in Contemporary Society

Abstract

Ethics and Human values play a fundamental role in shaping individual behavior and guiding social interaction in contemporary Society. They are the guiding principles of life that contribute to the all round development of an individual. Ethics, as a system of moral principles, helps individuals distinguish between right and wrong and encourages responsible behavior within social, professional and intuitional contexts. Likewise moral values have traditionally served as the foundation of human civilization. Values such as honestly, respect, responsibility, compassion and fairness provide the moral foundation that influences decision making and inter personal relationship. In the present age of globalization, materialism, technological dominance and individualistic life style, the relevance of moral values is being consistently challenged. Contemporary societies face numerous ethical challenges, including issues related to social justices, environmental responsibility, technological misuse and moral dilemmas in professional and public life.
