Abstract
ABSTRACT
Artificial intelligence is increasingly entering innovation processes through idea generation, decision support, process redesign and knowledge work. Yet the presence of AI does not guarantee that organizations will become more innovative or more resilient. Recent research in the European Journal of Innovation Management shows that generative AI can support process innovation, but its value depends strongly on organizational conditions, particularly flexibility and an enabling digital culture. This research blog argues that organizational flexibility may be the missing mechanism that allows Bangladeshi firms to convert AI-enabled innovation into innovation resilience. Drawing on Dynamic Capabilities Theory and emerging evidence on AI, innovation management and organizational resilience, the blog identifies a need to examine how firms reconfigure roles, resources and routines when AI changes innovation work. It proposes a feasible multi-industry research agenda for testing whether flexible organizations are better able to sustain, adapt and recover their innovation efforts when AI-enabled initiatives face uncertainty, implementation problems or rapid technological change.
The reviewed literature indicates that AI alone does not create sustainable competitive advantage; rather, its value depends on complementary organizational resources, process redesign, employee acceptance, governance, and the ability to adapt continuously.
