Abstract
Global concerns about climate change have brought significant attention to the generation of electricity from renewable
energy sources. Wind turbine technology has gained prominent attention in renewable power generation due to its
advantages over other renewable energy sources. In generating electricity from the wind using a wind turbine, one important
component is the wind turbine generator. Over the years, several different types of wind generators have been designed. But
one thing stands out, since the wind speed, which mainly causes the rotational energy of the turbine blades, could sometimes
change with time, the energy input to the generator can equally change with time, but the generator must produce high
power output and operate at the best performance. The use of a brushless permanent generator is capable of achieving this.
In this thesis, an analytical approach and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) technique are introduced for the design of a highefficiency surfacemounted permanent magnet synchronous generator. This generator is intended for use in a wind turbine
that will supply power to a food manufacturing company. The designed 24 slots, 4-pole surface-mounted permanent magnet
generator is capable of producing 142kW at a rated speed of 1500rpm. The Finite Element Analysis model is created based
on the analytical design method. Structure optimization involves stator tooth width, slot width, number of turns, magnet
arc, and magnet size, which are analyzed and simulated using ANSYS MOTOR CAD Software. The design is tested in both
no-load conditions and loading conditions. In no-load conditions, the design shows a maximum cogging torque of 65Nm
Energy is the cornerstone of human existence and development in modern society. With an increasingly tight supply of fossil fuels, the large-scale development and utilization of renewable energy have become an important part of the future energy strategy across the world. This paper shows the current development status...
The power sector is undergoing sea changes from conventional forms of power generation towards renewable energy due to diminishing resources of conventional sources of energy and also to deal with environmental issues. Three-phase self-excited induction generators (IGs) are popular in power generation from renewable so...

To meet the higher demand for energy, fossil fuels have been the leading energy source. These fuels produce greenhouse gases (GHG) and these gases are the reason for climate change, and the fossil fuel resources are also running out quickly. Because of this, lawmakers need to switch to clean and renewable energy source...
