aim to compare the main phonetic and lexical peculiarities of the patoises spoken in Izvoarele and Iugani, two rather remote and conservative rural settlements in the south-west of Iași county. The two villages, Izvoarele and Iugani, are composed of Romanians from Transylvania who emigrated to Moldova due to uprisings or due to limited rights. The dialectal analysis is carried out in congruence with the main sociolinguistic variables: gender, age and socio-cultural background. Based on the phonetic and dialectal material collected, we manage to outline an overview of these patoises, but also of the traditions and customs with local specificity, for instance, the coffin meal on the day before the funeral, an ancient practice of Transylvanian influence. The collected texts are thematic, but there are also exceptions of free fragments, in which the speakers describe their beliefs regarding everyday life in the first sentences. All the texts are transcribed phonetically. Through them, can be observed the real pronunciation that was recorded at the time of the speech act, reproducing the most important features of the patoises from the villages of Izvoarele and Iugani, Iași County.
