Abstract
The business model canvas (BMC) has been widely recognized as a strategic framework for business model innovation and digital transformation (Osterwalder et al., 2005; Rojas-García et al., 2024). This study examines how the integration of BMC can strengthen the competitiveness of digital small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the creative economy, particularly in the Semarang Creative Economy Zone. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews and direct observations of ten SMEs. The findings show that SMEs have begun to adopt digital practices, especially in marketing, customer interaction, and sales activities. However, digital integration remains partial, as most SMEs have not fully incorporated digital tools into all components of their business models, particularly in financial management. The study highlights that digital platforms improve market reach and customer engagement, but challenges such as limited digital literacy and reliance on manual financial systems persist. This research contributes by providing a comprehensive understanding of how BMC can be integrated with digital practices and financial management to enhance SME competitiveness. The findings offer practical insights for SME development and policy support in the digital economy.
