THE 5.0 INDUSTRY STARTS WITH A DIGITAL TWIN: THE PATH FROM DESIGN TO IMPLEMENTATION
Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of digital twin technology in the context of the transition to Industry 5.0, a modern stage of industrial production development that combines advanced digital technologies with the principles of human-centricity, flexibility and sustainable development. The paper reveals the theoretical essence of the concept of a "digital twin": it is defined as a virtual copy of a physical object, process or system, describes key characteristics and functionality, including real-time data collection and analysis, scenario modeling and predictive analytics. The role of digital twins is shown as a key element of the 5.0 Industry ecosystem, ensuring the integration of cyber-physical systems, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT) and big data technologies. The analysis of the economic and operational advantages of the introduction of digital twins in industrial enterprises is carried out. The main risks of technology implementation are systematized - high initial investments, shortage of qualified personnel, problems of integration with outdated systems (legacy systems), threats to cybersecurity and staff resistance to change. A step-by-step model for the introduction of a digital twin into industrial production is proposed, which provides for the launch of a pilot project, partnership with technology vendors, comprehensive staff training and insurance of project risks.
