Lightweight Trust Evaluation Model for Heterogeneous IoT Environments
Abstract
The Internet of Things (IoT) comprises a substantial number of interlinked devices that vary in operational capability, processing power, and power capacity. As a result of the heterogeneity, guaranteeing dependable and secure communication between IoT devices evolves into a significant challenge. Traditional protection mechanisms individually are insufficient to detect breached or malicious network entities. This work presents a lightweight trust evaluation model for heterogeneous IoT operational environments that evaluates the reliability of nodes employing lightweight metrics consisting of direct trust, information integrity, and residual energy. The proposed framework is algorithmically optimized and well-suitable for resource-limited IoT devices. Experimental outcomes indicate enhanced trust precision with negligible computational overhead.
