Abstract
The implementation of telework in Greek public administration services began as a security practice to face the crisis resulting from the COVID19 disease and was established by the Law 4807/2021 afterwards. The present paper provides theoretical justification and results, based on both a thorough literature review and the regulatory framework, and the relevant reform initiatives’ policy analysis. From a theoretical standpoint, it’s extended with safety and legal factors that explain telework, and from a practical perspective shows a percentage depiction of the workforce that has introduced telework as a measure. A critical overview of the new regulatory framework and the state-of-play is also attempted, emphasizing the relation between regulation and its actual impact on the administrative capacity of the Public Sector, as well as on its potential role in sustainable development. Telework raises a key challenge for policymakers, policy initiatives, and proposals.
