Abstract

Phishing in emails still remains one of the most widely used cyber threats that use social engineering as a technique to trick users into providing their personal details. The challenge is that ordinary people and elderly citizens are most at risk of cyber threats since they are not highly informed about cybersecurity. The research work offers a desktop email phishing detection and response system that functions using artificial intelligence through its graphical user interface (GUI). The system uses a dynamic dataset that supports adaptive classification to analyze emails and URLs based on risk assessment techniques for phishing attacks and their confidence levels. The system automatically blocks phishing emails from reaching users after the completion of the process of creating formatted cyber incident reports and complaint letters. The system informs users about cyber laws and international reporting agencies. The system is developed using Python and PyQt5 and SQLite to develop an offline system that supports user privacy and phishing email detection and automatic response and cybercrime reporting.

A Large-Scale Empirical Study of Modern Phishing Email Content

Phishing remains one of the most pervasive threats to Internet users, and email remains its predominant delivery channel. Email content is the attack surface of phishing: it is what the victim reads and what automated defenses inspect. Yet the composition of modern phishing content is poorly measured. Prior work has ch...
