Abstract
As the Systems Modeling Language (SysML) moves from version 1 to version 2, it introduces significant enhancements in expressiveness, precision, and consistency in semantic model structure, especially around definition and usage. One notable opportunity this provides is the potential for usage‐first (or even usage‐only) modelling, where system behavior, structure, interaction, and other system concepts are represented primarily through usage elements. This paper explores modeling techniques using SysML v2, specifically investigating the efficacy and limitations of usage‐first modelling to represent key system concepts in an example model.
Software platform migration involves more than executing transformations. It requires reasoning about feature mismatches, semantic changes, automation limits, and manual decisions. To address this gap, this paper introduces SMDSL, a domain-specific language for representing migration knowledge. We apply SMDSL to four m...

The ‘Foundations of Software Languages’ (FSL) ontology integrates software languages, tools, artifacts, concepts, technological spaces, and engineering activities. FSL features types of resources that must be treated both as objects of discourse and as classifiers, for example, when modelling artifact kinds or language...

Explainability for transformer-based language models is becoming crucial as these systems are deployed in high-stakes applications. As a result, the ecosystem of explainability tools is rapidly evolving, becoming richer, but also more fragmented and harder to navigate. To address this challenge, we present Virgil, an i...

Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) has become essential for the development of complex systems involving multiple stakeholders, engineering domains, and software tools. However, effective collaboration remains hindered by model fragmentation, where critical engineering data is distributed across heterogeneous enviro...
