Abstract
With the expansion of power systems and the integration of renewable energy sources, the probability of single-phase grounding faults in 220 kV high-voltage transmission lines has significantly increased. Accurately calculating fault currents is crucial for relay protection setting, circuit breaker selection, and the safe and stable operation of power grids. This paper establishes a single-phase grounding fault current calculation model based on the symmetrical component method, tailored to the actual operation of the 220 kV power grid in the DD region. First, it analyzes the characteristics of zero-sequence currents generated by single-phase grounding faults under the directly grounded neutral point mode in 220 kV systems. Second, it constructs a composite sequence network diagram incorporating power source voltage, system equivalent reactance, and fault point impedance, calculating theoretical data. By comparing actual recorded data with theoretical calculations, the results show that the theoretical calculation error is controlled within 3%, verifying the model’s effectiveness.
This article presents an in-depth analysis of the transient process of power transmission line tripping due to 66kV single-phase grounding faults in the power system. Based on the characteristics of neutral-point non-direct grounding methods, it explores the formation mechanisms of fault current and voltage transients,...

Single-line-to-ground (SLG) faults in medium-voltage distribution networks can produce significant capacitive currents and transient overvoltages, particularly in cable-dominated networks with different neutral-grounding arrangements. This study develops a phase-coordinate modeling framework for three-phase distributio...

This paper examines the transient power-angle stability of grid-forming converters (GFMs) subjected to grid faults. Existing studies commonly simplify the network as a purely inductive line and use ideal fault assumptions, which makes it difficult to describe how practical fault conditions influence power transmission...

The increasing penetration of inverter-based renewable energy resources is reshaping transmission-line fault characteristics and weakening protection criteria designed for synchronous-generator-dominated grids. This paper proposes an internal-fault identification scheme based on voltage–current coupling characteristic...

DC distribution networks employing a low-current grounding method offer high power supply reliability. However, when a single-pole grounding fault occurs on a feeder, the fault current characteristics are not distinct, making accurate fault identification and feeder protection challenging. Prolonged operation with the...

The study of hybrid multiterminal high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems revealed different outcomes regarding their performance under fault conditions. Previous research showed that under the fault conditions, the high-voltage direct current (HVDC) voltage experienced a drop to zero, accompanied by a reverse overs...
