Abstract

Cloud computing has emerged as one of the most transformative technologies of the modern era, rapidly becoming an indispensable infrastructure for organizations worldwide. Its ability to deliver data and services remotely via the Internet offers considerable flexibility, allowing users to scale resource consumption dynamically based on actual demand, with billing tied to actual usage. However, because data traverses public networks, it faces inherent exposure to interception and malicious exploitation. The widespread adoption of cloud platforms driven by factors such as cost efficiency, pooled infrastructure, broad connectivity, and ease of management has made secure data handling a top priority for enterprises across sectors. The financial industry, in particular, has undergone profound structural change through cloud adoption, shifting decision-making authority closer to customers while demanding heightened attention to data protection. Securing sensitive financial information stored or transmitted via cloud systems presents a significant barrier to broader institutional adoption of this technology. Addressing this gap, the present study investigates and benchmarks multiple cryptographic algorithms including the International Data Encryption Algorithm, Blowfish, the Data Encryption Standard (DES), and the Advanced Encryption Standard evaluating their relative performance across dimensions such as memory footprint, encryption throughput, capacity for handling large datasets, and overall security robustness.
