DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES FOR COMMUNICATIVE SKILLS IN THE PROCESS OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE LEARNING

Abstract

. The article explores comprehensive strategies for developing communicative skills in the process of foreign language learning within the context of the modern higher education sector. The author provides a detailed analysis of the global shift from the traditional knowledge-centred paradigm to a progressive competence-based approach, where the priority goal is not merely the accumulation of linguistic knowledge, but the formation of a holistic ability for fluent, flexible and effective intercultural communication. The paper offers a substantive review of the classification of communicative strategies — specifically compensatory, metacognitive, social and affective ones — and substantiates their decisive influence on overcoming linguistic and psychological barriers among students. Special attention is paid to the practical implementation of interactive teaching methods, among which the role of role-plays, discussion platforms, real-life simulations and the case study method is highlighted.
