TL;DR
It is suggested that it is not impossible to reliably predict the inhibitory effect of a compound on conjugative transfer for plasmids whose MPF systems structures differ from those already studied, and the degree of inhibition by 2-HDA can vary significantly among plasmids belonging to the same MPF or incompatibility group.
It is shown that this engineered ‘probiotic plasmid’ prevents invasive AMR plasmids from entering bacterial populations in vitro and in vivo, in the mouse gut, and offers a promising new strategy to control invasive AMR plasmids and prevent AMR acquisition in high-risk settings, such as in hospitals or AMR-endemic regi...

Background/Objectives: IncI2 and IncX4 plasmids are important vehicles for dissemination of the mobile colistin resistance gene mcr-1. We evaluated whether sanguinarine (SA) reduces conjugative transfer of these two mcr-1-carrying plasmid types and examined biological changes accompanying the transfer phenotype. Method...

Horizontal transfer of blaKPC-bearing plasmids contributes significantly to the dissemination of carbapenem resistance among Enterobacterales; however, the influence of mechanistically distinct antibiotics on this process remains incompletely understood. This study investigated the effects of meropenem, gepotidacin, an...

Conjugation experiments demonstrated that the β-lactam resistance gene blaOXA-246 could be horizontally transferred from the donor MD9 strain to the recipient Escherichia coli 25DN strain, thereby potentially contributing to the dissemination of multidrug-resistant bacteria.

This research aims to provide an integrated analysis of bacterial conjugation within the broader context of HGT, emphasizing its evolutionary persistence and mechanistic vulnerabilities and highlights conjugation-specific interfering strategies as a potential opportunity in slowing down resistance dissemination and pre...
