The Role of English As A Global Lingua Franca-Examining English’s Dominance in International Business, Education, And Diplomacy

2026 · International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research and Growth Evaluation · 0 citations

Abstract

This dissertation dives into the many different things that have helped English become the main language used worldwide, especially in international business, education, and diplomacy. It also takes a close look at what this language power means for people who don't speak English as their first language, and whether they get the same chances as native speakers. The research uses a mix of methods, including interviews and surveys, as well as looking at how language is used and how policies affect people. What it shows is that while English being so important creates opportunities, it also creates hurdles for non-native speakers. Often, this leads to them not having the same access to important resources and connections in global interactions. Key findings indicate that being good at English really helps with jobs and school, but it also makes the differences between non-native speakers even bigger. This means we really need language policies that include everyone and support different languages, so everyone has a fair shot. These findings are also important in healthcare, where problems with communication can hurt patients and make it harder for healthcare workers to work together. By stressing that we need to use many languages in healthcare settings, this study pushes for a big change in how we think about language. It says that valuing all languages is a way to make things fairer, so that people from all language backgrounds can be part of conversations and decisions. So, this research highlights that we need to deal with the issues that come with English being the top global language, to make the world fairer in different areas, like healthcare.
