SonarOBB, an acoustic-structure-guided oriented object detection framework specifically designed for sonar imaging, maintains real-time inference speed with low computational overhead, demonstrating a favorable accuracy–efficiency trade-off under challenging low-contrast and noisy sonar conditions.
The results indicate that CDDS-YOLO exhibits strong robustness to boundary ambiguity and complex seabed textures, making it well suited for practical sonar-based detection tasks.

Underwater robotic perception requires robust object detection under severe optical degradation and acoustic ambiguity. Optical images provide rich appearance and boundary cues but are sensitive to turbidity, scattering, and illumination changes, whereas sonar images provide stable structural responses but contain spar...
Underwater object detection is challenged by visual degradation such as low contrast, background noise and the difficulty of identifying small targets. To alleviate these issues, we propose UFL-YOLO, an enhanced version of YOLOv10 augmented with lightweight yet effective modules: small object enhance pyramid (SOEP), un...

: Robust underwater object detection and relative navigation remain challenging because of the severe degradation of sonar imagery caused by acoustic noise and artifacts. Although imaging sonar provides a viable sensing modality in GPS-denied underwater environments, its effectiveness is limited by low signal-to-noise...

Optical cameras and imaging sonars are widely used sensors in autonomous underwater vehicles. However, their different imaging mechanisms introduce substantial cross-modal discrepancies in the acquired data. In addition, underwater optical images are often degraded by low illumination, scattering, and turbidity, wherea...
