Management Strategies of Non-Formal Educational Institutions in the Digital Era: A Multi-Site Study
Abstract
The industry 4.0 revolution and Society 5.0 have brought profound disruption to the non-formal education sector, demanding technological adaptation within highly dynamic landscapes. Despite the value of existing literature, a significant research gap persists as studies often evaluate digital marketing, online course design, and financial resilience as isolated elements, lacking a comprehensive analysis of their strategic integration. This research aims to analyze the managerial strategies of educational institution leaders in orchestrating these three pillars to enhance competitiveness and ensure institutional sustainability within the saturated market of Kampung Inggris Pare. Using a qualitative multi-site study design, data collection was conducted at Kelas Lingua (KL) and Talking Mate (TM) through in-depth semi-structured interviews, non-participant observations, and documentation studies involving Chief Executive Officers and primary Division Managers. The findings reveal that the integration of multi-channel social media marketing, innovative online class services (LMS and interactive webinars), and adaptive financial management prioritizing R&D successfully expanded market reach to a national scale. This study provides a significant theoretical contribution by extending the Dynamic Capabilities and Resource-Based View frameworks into the non-formal education sector, offering a novel integrated model for long-term institutional resilience. The study concludes that an agile and synchronized managerial strategy across marketing, services, and finance is crucial for navigating digital era disruptions.
