The most distinctive characteristic of the novel species is its lack of a host association, which distinguishes it from all previously described Phaeoacremonium species.
Abstract
A new species of Phaeoacremonium magnosporus sp. nov. was isolated in culture from the air in Sichuan Province, China, and described. Phylogenetic tree derived from neighbor-joining analysis based on a multi-locus concatenated dataset of the internal transcribed spacers (ITS), actin (ACT) and β-tubulin (TUB2) genes revealed that the novel species clustered within the Phaeoacremonium clade with a distinct lineage. Two strains of Phaeoacremonium magnosporus were related to P. paululum and P. alvesii. Unlike P. paululum CBS 142705, the new species exhibited growth well at 30 °C; and the new species differed from P. alvesii CBS 110034 in that it could not produce yellow pigment. The most distinctive characteristic of the novel species is its lack of a host association, which distinguishes it from all previously described Phaeoacremonium species. Herein, we propose a new species, P. magnosporus sp. nov.
Six yeast strains were isolated from residual powder on brooms used in the production of high-temperature Daqu collected in Zunyi City, Guizhou Province, China. Phylogenetic analyses based on the sequences of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region and the D1/D2 domains of the large subunit rRNA gene indicated tha...

Abstract In the present study, three basidiomycetous yeast strains were isolated from plant materials collected in Guizhou and Henan provinces, China. Phenotypic characteristics, together with phylogenetic analyses based on the D1/D2 domain of the large subunit (LSU) rRNA gene and the internal transcribed spacer (ITS)...

Wongia belongs to Papulosaceae (Sordariomycetes) and currently comprises 16 species. Most species have been reported from freshwater habitats and are known from their asexual morphs. During a a survey of fungi associated with Poaceae in Sichuan Province, China, a previously undescribed species of Wongia was collected f...

Fusarium species within the Fusarium incarnatum–equiseti species complex (FIESC) comprise a diverse group of fungi with pathogenic, endophytic, and saprobic lifestyles. During a survey of fungal diversity associated with bamboo in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, China, a Fusarium species was isolated from dead bamboo c...

Morphologically, the new species differs from D. olivaceosporum by its dark black to olivaceous-brown conidia, composed of 15–32 cells arranged in 4–5 rows, and lacking conidial appendages.
