Integrating Technology and Care: Perioperative Nurses’ Knowledge and Influencing Factors on Medical Device–Related Pressure Injuries
Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study is to assess perioperative nurses’ knowledge regarding medical device–related pressure injuries and the factors affecting their knowledge. Methods: It was descriptively planned and conducted with 140 perioperative nurses. Research data were collected using the Medical Device–Related Pressure Injury Knowledge Assessment Test. It was analyzed using the Kruskal–Wallis test and the Mann–Whitney U-test. Results: The mean knowledge score of perioperative nurses was 9.83 ± 5.09 (0-16). The total test score of those nurses in the intensive care unit (P=.008) was found to be significantly higher than the scores in the other departments. It was found that the total test score of nurses who provided care to a patient with pressure injury (P=.018) was significantly higher than those who did not provide care. Conclusion: In this study, it was determined that the knowledge level of perioperative nurses was at a moderate level.
