These 45S5-added PVP nanocomposite fibers offer a promising and biocompatible solution for the treatment of microcracks and dental sensitivity.

Abstract

This study investigates the fabrication and characterization of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and 45S5 bioactive glass (BG) composite nanofibers produced via electrospinning for treating dentine sensitivity and enhancing enamel remineralization. Initially, processing parameters were optimized using a 4% PVP solution. Subsequently, various concentrations of 45S5 BG (2 and 4%) were incorporated into PVP matrices of different ratios (2, 4, and 8%). The nanofibers were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), EDX, FTIR, TGA, and DTA. SEM results revealed a significant inverse correlation between fiber diameter and bead density. Optimized parameters (17 kV and 50 µl min−1) yielded bead-free, homogeneous nanofibers with diameters ranging from 335 to 460 nm, ideal for deep dentin tubule penetration. FTIR spectra confirmed that all nanofibers retained their chemical integrity without anomalous vibrations. Consequently, these 45S5-added PVP nanocomposite fibers offer a promising and biocompatible solution for the treatment of microcracks and dental sensitivity.

Preparation and Characterization of Dual Drug Loaded PVP-EC Electrospun Nanofiber for Rheumatoid Arthritis

An initial nanofiber (NF) formulation was developed using individual drug loading with sulfasalazine (SSZ) and quercetin (QCT). Subsequently, a dual drug-loaded system (SSZ and QCT) was prepared using a composite polymer matrix of polyvinylpyrrolidone K-90 (PVP K-90) and ethyl cellulose (EC). The electrospun NF formula...
