Studying of Cystein and Glycin Rich Proteins Gene and Relationship with Body Dimensions in Awassi Sheep

Abstract

his study investigated the association between single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the cysteine- and glycine-rich protein 2 gene (CSRP2) and body dimensions in Awassi sheep. Blood samples and measurements of body length, front height, and back height were collected from 50 animals raised at a private station in Babylon Province, Iraq, during 2022–2023. Genomic DNA was extracted, and exon 7, together with the adjacent terminal region, was amplified and sequenced. Allele and genotype frequencies were assessed using the chi-square test, while genotype effects were analyzed with a general linear model followed by Duncan’s multiple range test. Two C>T substitutions were identified at positions 20315 and 20094, producing the CC, CT, and TT genotypes. The T allele was the most frequent at both positions, with frequencies of 0.67 at position 20315 and 0.57 at position 20094.

The influence of SLCO2B1 gene polymorphisms on live weight in Manych Merino sheep

The study aimed to evaluate the association of SLCO2B1 gene polymorphisms with live weight in Manych Merino rams. Genotyping was performed using whole-genome sequencing (NovaSeq 6000) of 30 clinically healthy nine-month-old rams, randomly selected from three unrelated lines (relatedness coefficient ≤0.5). Mapping to th...

Polymorphism of the CSN3 gene and its association with the blood biochemical profile in Holstein cattle

Molecular genetic markers, such as the polymorphism of the kappa-casein gene (CSN3), are a important tool for increasing the efficiency of dairy cattle breeding. The aim of this study was to investigate CSN3 polymorphism in a Holstein cattle population and to assess its associations with blood biochemical parameters re...

Polymorphisms in CALCRL and MPC1 Genes and Their Associations with Growth Traits in Tianzhu White Yaks

Simple Summary Tianzhu white yaks are multipurpose livestock that support pastoral communities on the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau, where animals must cope with cold, low oxygen, and seasonal feed shortages. Genetic variants associated with body weight and body size may help improve genetic evaluation. In this study, 536 Tian...

Complex combination of polymorphic variants of the OPN and IGF-1 genes in a cattle population

The article presents the results of a study on the combined genotypes of OPN (c.8514C/T) and IGF-1 (512T/C) genes in a population of Holstein heifers (n=202). The experiment was conducted at the Lenin Breeding Farm (Atninsky District, Republic of Tatarstan), and laboratory analyses were carried out at the Tatar R...
