Internalization of Pancasila Values in Campus Life Through Civic Education at Kahuripan University Kediri
Abstract
The learning of Civics Education in higher education plays a crucial role in shaping students’ character and civic awareness amidst social dynamics and digital culture. This study aims to analyze the process of internalizing Pancasila values through Civics Education learning and to identify supporting factors, obstacles, and its contribution to the formation of students’ national character at Universitas Kahuripan Kediri. The study adopts a qualitative approach using a case study design. Informants were purposively selected, including Civics Education lecturers and active students. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The results indicate that value internalization occurs in three stages: value transformation, value transaction, and value trans-internalization, integrating cognitive, affective, and conative dimensions. This process is reinforced by lecturer role-modeling, a participatory campus culture, and value-based student activities. However, it faces challenges regarding suboptimal curriculum integration and the impact of digital culture on students’ social awareness. The study contributes to strengthening a reflective, contextual, and participatory Civics Education learning model as a strategy for reinforcing national character. A limitation of the study is its scope, which was confined to a single higher education institution; therefore, future research is advised to involve multiple institutions and employ a mixed-methods approach to enhance the generalizability of the findings.
