Abstract

This study assessed the implementation of the Revised K to 10 Curriculum and the challenges and opportunities experienced by Key Stage 1 (KS1) teachers. It also examined the relationships among curriculum implementation, challenges, and opportunities, and determined whether teachers’ perceptions differed by profile. Using a quantitative descriptive-correlational design, the study surveyed 165 KS1 teachers through a structured questionnaire. The study analyzed data using frequency, percentage, mean, Pearson correlation, independent-samples t-test, and one-way analysis of variance. The findings showed that the curriculum was implemented to a great extent, with assessment and evaluation and instructional delivery receiving the highest ratings. The most pronounced challenges involved teacher workload, learner-related concerns, and inadequate resources. Nevertheless, teachers identified considerable opportunities to improve learner engagement, professional collaboration, and professional growth. Significant relationships were found between curriculum implementation and both perceived challenges and opportunities. Perceived challenges did not differ significantly across the respondents’ profile variables. However, perceived opportunities differed significantly according to years of teaching experience and level of relevant training attended. Based on these findings, the study proposed a structured intervention program to strengthen curriculum implementation through enhanced professional development, improved resource support, and sustained instructional supervision.
