Abstract
This article discusses school Physical Education based on the theoretical framework of the lifeworld, understanding the body as language and as an instance that produces symbolic images and formative meanings. The study analyzes pedagogical workshops developed with second-grade elementary school classes. Grounded in the paradigm of movement bodily culture and contributions from historical-cultural theory, the proposal seeks to break with the historically dominant technical-instrumental rationality in the field, valuing sensitive, dialogical, and imagetic bodily experiences in which movement operates as a form of signification of the lived world. The analysis shows that play, when pedagogically mediated, constitutes a privileged space for imagetic production, symbolic expression, and ethical formation, enabling integrated motor, cognitive, affective, and social learning. It is concluded that reconnecting school Physical Education with the lifeworld broadens its formative possibilities, affirming the moving body as language, experience, and educational image in the construction of the common world from the early years of schooling.
