Principles of the organization of foreign language education in a non-linguistic university
Abstract
Introduction. At the present stage, foreign language training of students in technical universities, especially within new structural units, e.g. advanced engineering schools, has gained particular importance. Goal. The goal of the article is to systematize and specify a set of principles for organizing foreign language education in non-linguistic universities, taking into account the peculiarities of engineering training in Advanced Engineering Schools. Materials and Methods. The study rests on theoretical analysis of academic sources, systematization of dissertation studies, analysis of legal documents, and a conceptual modeling method. Results and discussion. The results demonstrate the need to integrate traditional didactic principles with andragogical and professionally oriented approaches. The proposed system of author-defined principles contributes to the development of professional foreign language competence among engineers to-be, enhances their cognitive activity, critical thinking, and ability to engage in independent research within an international professional environment. Conclusion. The implementation of the developed principles helps bridge the gap between language training and professional needs, fostering the subjective position of a student and readiness for international engineering practice.
