Abstract

This study evaluated whether microbial fertilizer combined with a 50% reduction in chemical fertilizers can maintain or improve growth performance of curly lettuce (Lactuca sativa L. var. crispa) under greenhouse conditions. The study was arranged in a completely randomized design with seven treatments and four replications: control without fertilizer application (C), optimum chemical fertilization (OF), three combined treatments consisting of 50% reduced chemical fertilizer plus microbial fertilizer at 5 mL L⁻¹ (RCF_MF5), 10 mL L⁻¹ (RCF_MF10), and 20 mL L⁻¹ (RCF_MF20), and two sole microbial fertilizer treatments at 10 mL L⁻¹ (MF10) and 20 mL L⁻¹ (MF20). Irrigation was applied at approximately four-day intervals by restoring the depleted soil moisture to field capacity based on pot weight. Seasonal evapotranspiration during the experimental period was calculated based on the difference between pot weight at field capacity and pot weight before irrigation, and the seasonal evapotranspiration during the curly lettuce growing period was determined as 214.2 mm. The microbial fertilizer consisted of a consortium of Streptomyces species. Growth parameters, including fresh weight, dry weight, and head diameter, were measured at harvest. Treatment effects were highly significant (P

Soil Physical and Chemical Properties and Productivity of Four Wheat (Triticum Aestivum L.) Genotypes under Nutrient Recovered from Yellow Water

The increasing cost and environmental impacts of inorganic fertilizers necessitate sustainable alternatives for improving wheat productivity. This study evaluated the effects of nutrient recovered from yellow water (NRYW) on soil properties, growth, yield, and grain quality of four Triticum aestivum accessions under co...

Soil Nutrient Dynamics Under Organic and Inorganic Amendments Determine Chile (Capsicum annuum L.) Growth and Yield

Integrated organic–inorganic soil amendments have been proposed as a strategy to improve soil fertility while maintaining crop productivity, yet their effects on seasonal nutrient dynamics and chile (Capsicum annuum L.) performance remain unclear. Two chile cultivars (‘NuMex Odyssey’, ‘NuMex Sandia Select’) were tested...

Drip Irrigation and Fertilization Strategies Shape Soil Bacterial Community and Nutrient Utilization in Summer Peanut

Optimizing fertilization strategies is key to increasing peanut yields and maintaining soil health, but it is still unclear how the proportion of basal fertilizer (applied before sowing) and topdressing (applied through drip irrigation during growth) systematically affects the “soil microbe plant” system under integrat...

Growth and yield performance of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) varieties under integrated nutrient management

Wheat productivity is constrained by declining soil fertility and low nutrient-use efficiency resulting from the continuous dependence on chemical fertilizers. Integrated Nutrient Management, through the judicious integration of organic, inorganic, and biological nutrient sources, offers a sustainable approach to enhan...

Product-Specific Effects of Microbial Inoculants on Maize Growth and Grain Weight per Plant Under No-Tillage Straw Mulching

Microbial inoculants are increasingly used in conservation agriculture to enhance soil biological functioning and crop performance, yet their field effectiveness remains variable. This study evaluated how soil resource status, extracellular enzyme activities, and plant traits were associated with maize grain weight per...
