The proposed StoryBot project focuses on generating stories using Generative AI and presenting them in an inclusive manner through text, voice, and Indian Sign Language to make AI-generated stories accessible to a wider and more diverse audience.

Abstract

Storytelling is a fundamental form of communication used for education, entertainment, and knowledge sharing, enabling ideas and experiences to be conveyed in an engaging and meaningful way. With the emergence of Generative Artificial Intelligence, it has become possible for machines to automatically create original and context-aware stories using advanced natural language processing techniques. Generative AI models can understand user inputs and generate coherent narratives, making automated storytelling more interactive and scalable. However, most AI-based storytelling systems are limited to text or audio outputs, restricting accessibility for users with hearing impairments. To address this challenge, the proposed StoryBot project focuses on generating stories using Generative AI and presenting them in an inclusive manner through text, voice, and Indian Sign Language. By adopting a multimodal storytelling approach, the system aims to make AI-generated stories accessible to a wider and more diverse audience

Enabling AI to Find Multimodal Signals of Storytelling Cross-Culturally: A Multi-Step Approach

Storytelling is a fundamental human practice through which people share experiences and make sense of the world. But while conversational storytelling itself has been extensively studied, little is known about the multimodal cues that signal the emergence of storytelling in spontaneous interaction and whether these cue...

REVISITING A.I’S EFFICIENCY FOR STORYBOARDING: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS

This study revisits a 2025 experiment to evaluate how generative AI tools (Storyboarder.ai, Boords, and Quillbot) compare them to a human artist in creating storyboards for an animated series, using criteria by Boyd (2020). While AI platforms offer rapid generation and improved aesthetic rendering, they suffer from sev...

LLM-Storyteller: child-guided narrative co-creation via real-time adaptive prompting and visualization with an embodied robot

Interactive storytelling has shown great potential in supporting children’s creativity. However, existing robotic storytelling systems mostly treat the robot as the primary author or lack the ability to adapt to a child’s interaction state in real time. In this paper, we present LLM-Storyteller, an embodied robotic sys...
