Abstract
I/O traces are essential for storage system evaluation and workload analysis, but real traces are often scarce due to privacy concerns, collection costs, and workload diversity. While LSTM-based generators model short-term sequential dependencies, they suffer from autoregressive error accumulation and struggle to jointly capture heterogeneous I/O attributes like inter-arrival time, starting address, operation type, and request size. This paper presents TraceDiff, a diffusion-based model that uses historical I/O events as conditions to generate future events through conditional denoising. TraceDiff employs a causal Transformer history encoder and a DiT-style denoising network to model temporal-spatial dependencies and multi-field correlations. Experiments on three real-world datasets show that TraceDiff consistently outperforms the LSTM-based PALSYN baseline in event-level accuracy and distributional similarity. Specifically, TraceDiff reduces errors in inter-arrival time and starting address, improves accuracy for operation types and request sizes, and better preserves distributions of inter-arrival time, request size, LBA-jump, and temporal autocorrelation. These results demonstrate that diffusion-based generation effectively produces high-fidelity I/O traces with complex temporalspatial patterns.
LLMODE is proposed, a token-efficient framework for irregular spatio-temporal forecasting with a frozen LLM backbone that shows competitive overall performance, with clearer advantages under sparse or dynamically complex irregular sampling.

As diffusion large language models (dLLMs) become more capable, they are moving from research settings to real-world \textit{serving}, where request management (such as scheduling and resource allocation) relies on accurate estimation of per-request inference cost. However, common cost proxies fall short for dLLMs: out...
