Abstract

This paper proposes a state-feedback control strategy based on linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) to regulate the output voltage of a SEPIC converter. First, the small-signal model of the converter is derived by linearizing the state-space representation averaged around its steady-state operating point. Next, the controller design is formulated as an LMI optimization problem, which allows the state feedback gains to be calculated while ensuring closed-loop stability and imposing constraints on pole placement, control effort, and disturbance attenuation. The resulting LMIs are solved using the MATLAB LMI Toolbox to meet the desired closed-loop performance specifications. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method, its performance is compared with that of a conventional linear quadratic regulator (LQR). Both controllers are evaluated in terms of transient response and output voltage regulation in the presence of variations in input voltage and load. Simulation results using MATLAB are presented to validate the theoretical study.
