Abstract
Speed of processing training (SOPT) is a well-known nonverbal, computerized program that involves the repeated practice of tasks with increased difficulty that aim to improve speed and attention. While learning in SOPT targets neural circuits that underpin multiple cognitive domains, the effects on cognitive function are relatively selective and transitory. To enhance the benefits of SOPT, recent cognitive intervention approaches emphasize the importance of personalization to address individual heterogeneity in response to cognitive challenges. In this paper, we present personalized SOPT (pSOPT) Online, a novel cloud-based framework to integrate SOPT tasks with advanced personalization engines that tune the task complexity to the trainee’s real-time adaptation capacity. pSOPT Online defines different building blocks for the creation of cloud-based SOPT tasks, personalization engines, physiological measurement devices, and a RESTful web API that defines the interaction between the different components. We then present four SOPT tasks and one personalization engine developed using the framework. Finally, we present initial results from a small-scale beta test that will guide subsequent framework refinement before large-scale randomized testing.
This paper presents a personalized learning path generation method based on a dynamic optimization mechanism, which addresses the issues of student behavior change response and path accuracy. By combining task decomposition and knowledge point association techniques, and through the construction of a mapping relationsh...

Modern learning is rapidly evolving and has transformed the way we learn today, offering flexibility and scalability. Current recommendation systems are typically based on "one size fits all" approach and do not consider individual learners, their preference and varying levels of understanding. Lack of personalization...

The fast-changing developments in industries present a new challenge by leaving learners' ability to meet the expectations of employers. Hence, available educational platforms keep providing learning materials that are based more on the general popularity of specific subjects than on assessing the skills lacking for fu...

A systematic, cross-domain characterisation of data processing practices for the offline evaluation of recommender systems is provided, identifying substantial heterogeneity in how auxiliary information is prepared and represented, as well as inconsistencies in the specification of data splitting protocols.

E-learning systems continue to experience a growing number of courses and learning materials, making it increasingly difficult for learners to locate resources that are relevant to their interests, capabilities, and learning goals. This study developed and evaluated a lightweight hybrid recommender system for an e-lear...
