Abstract
To address the complex electromechanical coupling characteristics of DC circuit breakers and the limitations of traditional single-scale features in characterizing incipient faults, this paper proposes a fault diagnosis method integrating optimized Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD) multi-scale features with a Support Vector Machine (SVM). First, the Mirage Search Optimization (MSO) algorithm is employed to synergistically optimize the critical parameters of both VMD and SVM, effectively overcoming the susceptibility of traditional optimization methods to local optima. Subsequently, the original vibration signals are decomposed into a series of Intrinsic Mode Functions (IMFs) via VMD, from which energy moments, kurtosis, and dispersion entropy are extracted to construct multi-scale feature vectors. Finally, these multi-scale composite features are fed into the optimized SVM for fault identification and classification. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves a fault identification accuracy of 98.33%, significantly outperforming the control groups. The experimental data validate the advantages of employing multi-scale features and dual-parameter optimization, suggesting significant practical value for the complex fault diagnosis of DC circuit breakers.
Addressing the shortcomings of traditional substation fault diagnosis methods—such as weak resistance to noise interference, redundant feature extraction, low recognition accuracy for small-sample faults, and the inability to diagnose multiple coupled faults—this paper proposes an intelligent substation fault diagnosis...

Compared with other algorithms, the presented method achieves superior identification performance and possesses favorable recognition capability for incipient weak faults, which can realize the classification of bearing faults.
Comparative results demonstrate that FFT-based feature extraction combined with Random Projection (RP) provides the most effective feature representation, while the proposed NATS classifier achieves binary classification accuracies exceeding 92% across all operating scenarios.

The growing integration of inverter-based renewable energy resources into AC microgrids has introduced several challenges for conventional protection systems. These challenges primarily arise from the reduced fault current contribution of power electronic converters, the presence of bidirectional power flow, continuous...
The results indicate that phase-angle information provides supplementary and class dependent discriminative value, but does not consistently improve all fault classes, whereas conventional voltage and current measurements alone represent a simpler and more stable alternative, whereas phase-angle measurements may be inc...
