Key Competences after AI Revolution
Abstract
The author analyses a shift in the approach to the concept of key competences, driven by changes in the origins of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its potential uses. Currently, the ability to work with Artificial Intelligence is becoming an overriding competence that, in both European and American approaches, forms the foundation for all others. The essay also highlights educational challenges that have emerged with the spread of new technologies and communication based on AI. These updated key competences should include the ability to use AI products ethically and responsibly, design and use machine learning, understand the need to control AI, and work with basic AI tools. The author indicates a growing need to reorient educational systems from learning focused on assessing large amounts of material to developing basic skills that can serve as a foundation for self-development and for creating individual lifelong learning plans.
