Abstract

This study conducted a bibliometric analysis of 271 publications on value co-creation in healthcare published between 2016 and 2025, based on data retrieved from the Scopus database. The results indicate that the field has expanded rapidly over 2016–2025, with research primarily concentrated in business and management disciplines and gradually extending into social sciences and medicine. Australia, Europe, and North America constitute the main regions of knowledge production, while China has emerged as a key collaboration node in the Asia–Pacific region. Keyword analysis identifies six thematic clusters, with “value co-creation” functioning as the central hub. Research themes have shifted from a service-management orientation toward more systemic explorations driven by patient well-being and digital health, although gaps remain with respect to long-term evidence and research across diverse healthcare-system contexts. This study maps the knowledge landscape of value co-creation research in healthcare.
