EVALUATION OF THE BREEDING CHARACTERISTICS OF HORSES OF THE KUSHUM BREED IN THE BREEDING REPRODUCER OF KH ITIL LLC USING SPREADSHEETS

Abstract

The article presents the results of evaluating the selected traits of horses of the Kushum breed in the breeding reproducer LLC "KH “Itil” (Astrakhan region) using a developed spreadsheet template. Testing the methodology on a population of 19 stud stallions and 358 broodmares showed that the age structure (stallions 6.5–16.5 years, broodmares 4.5–17.5 years) corresponds to the effective implementation of reproductive functions. Genealogical analysis revealed a high repeatability of first-generation ancestors on the male side among broodmares (80.4%), which indicates a high intensity of accumulation of full-blooded sisters and the need for monitoring closely related genotypes. Conformation assessment and class structure confirmed a high level of selection traits: all stallions were classified as elite, among broodmares the share of elite individuals is 81.0%, however, there are individuals with reduced measurements and live weight. The proposed approach simplifies data collection, verification and analysis, reduces the risk of mechanical errors and can be recommended to improve the efficiency of breeding work in small-scale herd farms.
