Abstract

The power system network is currently extremely overloaded as a result of the ongoing rise in power consumption. Additionally, due to financial and other constraints, new electricity lines cannot be installed in place of the current ones. Only with the cooperation of the power system community can the control system community run and manage the power system’s network using the current lines. To improve the power system’s performance in terms of stability and control, the control system community has been investing in and applying novel control techniques to the power system network over the past fifty years. This study proposes a hybrid control approach for the power system network installed with the Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) employing switching and non-switching control strategies, following the works of the control system community. MATLAB/SIMULINK platforms are used to test the suggested controllers, and the results are compared to get the relevant conclusion.

Two-layer Emergency Frequency Control Scheme for Sending-end Power Grid With Multi-energy Storage Systems

With the increase of the proportion of the renewables, the system inertia and frequency regulation capability in the sending-end power grid have become seriously insufficient, making the frequency stability issue increasingly prominent. This paper proposes a two-layer emergency frequency control scheme for sending-end...

Dynamic Voltage Enhancement for Multi-Machine Power System Through PCH Based GCI

The recent trend of encouragement to renewable integration has resulted in an inverter-dominated hybrid grid. The time-scale of such integrated grid activities and its response time varies in a wide range. In such a scenario, the first challenge is to have a model that can capture both the dynamics of fast as well as s...

Enhanced voltage regulation and current sharing of radial DC microgrids

DC microgrids are gaining more attention as their control is simpler, their efficiency is higher and they are more reliable. DC microgrid control aims to regulate load voltage at the nominal value and share load among distributed generation units with a certain ratio. This paper presents a control strategy for radial D...
